How Does Surge Protection Work?

The functioning of a surge protector

The live wire or primary power line at a surge protector contains an extra linked connection that feeds to an earth wire. A ground wire’s purpose would be to direct any extra current safely to the floor. The surge connection in the shield stays inactive until a larger than normal voltage seems. This extra current is then securely redirected through the extra earth wire, directly into the floor. This prevents more current than normal from flowing into your appliances effectively making sure that they are protected from any injury that can be caused by power surges.
